New Year, Same You.
New Year, Same You.
Yes, you read that right!
In case you need someone to tell you this today, we don’t need to revamp everything about who we are when we flip to the 2020 calendar. Don’t get me wrong, I love New Years, and it’s not the party or the ball dropping. Confession time, I likely won’t even be up at midnight.
There really is something amazing about this time of the year where things slow down, and we can reset and start to plan for the upcoming year. Let’s spend some time reflecting on what went right in 2019, and what we would like to switch up to make the year 2020 our best one yet!
What are you reflecting on as we start a new decade? I personally have intentions to continue to be myself and live my best life. There’s nothing more intoxicating than thinking about the future, looking ahead and seeing what can be. I did some reflecting and realized that rather than looking at what I want to cut out of my life, I want to work on enhancing my life, personally and professionally. As a mother, business owner and just Elaine.
So here is your New Year’s challenge. Take a few minutes today, pour yourself something to drink, get comfy and start to brainstorm what brings you joy. Not the stuff that makes other people happy or what things we think we should want to do. Deep down, what are the things we do that fill our cup up and make us feel joyful. Let’s do more of that!
Think back on the year and write 3 to 5 things that bring you the most joy, whether its a girls night out, trying a new restaurant or even something as simple as unplugging from your cell phone and spending time outdoors. Let’s all start spending more time on the things that make us happy.
The next order of business is to write down 3 things you did this year that you spent lots of energy and time on, and it brought you stress, tears, sadness, or anxiety. These 3 things, my friends, we are going to work on cutting out of our lives. Let’s say NO to the tasks or obligations that take the joy from our lives. Honor our happiness. We all have only so much time each day.
Lets all opt to add value and happiness to our daily lives, make small changes that are doable and we will all be more successful!
I’ll check back in and let you know some items I am working on this year!
Cheers to 2020!
