Tips for Your Sparkler Wedding Exit

To end the most amazing night of your life, why not have your family and friends create a tunnel of sparkling lights as you depart your wedding and enter the next chapter? That’s what so many brides have been doing! Planning a sparkler exit as your wedding send-off is not only an incredible moment to take in, but also an amazing photo op for you and your new spouse on the most important night of your lives! But, the thing is, with an exit – you only get one shot! So, here are some tips to make sure your send-off is nothing less than perfect!

First, make sure you purchase the extra long sparklers! These look amazing and they also take longer to burn out which will give you more time to make your way to the chariot picking you up at the end of the tunnel.

Also, another ‘pro tip’ is to designate a few people prior to your wedding day who will be in charge of lighting everyone’s sparklers. Trust me, it can get chaotic when you have 100+ people trying to light their own sparklers. Plus, you want everyone to light their sparklers at the same time so that you don’t have some burning out before others are even lit. Torches work better than lighters so keep that in mind while planning!

As you walk out to your sparkler exit, take your time. Enjoy the moment, walk slowly, plan a kiss in the middle for the perfect photo and try to capture the memory the best that you can! There are not many times in your life where you have everyone you love and care about in one place cheering you on, enjoy it!

Finally, make sure it’s dark enough for your exit. Especially if you have a summer wedding, the sun doesn’t set until later so you will want to keep that in mind as you plan out your schedule for the day. Typically, send-offs are between 9 PM and 11 PM, depending on how late your reception goes until.

If sparklers aren’t your thing and you want to incorporate something different, I have seen tons of creative and special send-offs. For example, you can use bubbles, rice, flower petals, or even streamer bombs. But, be sure to see what your venue allows before you plan!

No matter what you do, I guarantee that it will be the most perfect and special exit for you and your partner. If you are in the wedding planning process and looking for a photographer to help your day be exactly what you’ve dreamt of, choose Elaine Gates Photography!
