Tips for Your Spring Engagement Session
Newly engaged? Well, it’s the moment you have all been waiting for… engagement photo time! Even though it’s still a little chilly, spring feels are in the air! If you are planning your engagement session for these spring months, use this guide for what you should be wearing!
Keep it colorful, but not too bright!
Since styles come and go, you will thank yourself for using “safe” colors in pictures you’ll treasure forever! Pastels, neutrals and light colors allow the attention to be on your expressions and obvious heart eyes, instead of your hot pink dress! If you are going to add some color, I would go for pastel pinks, baby blue and lavender!
Complement each other!
Not to be a hater, but you do not need to match your outfits in your engagement session. Wearing the same outfit can appear odd in a setting that is supposed to look very natural! Instead, complement each other! If you’re wearing a blue dress, have him wear neutrals! The goal is not to match, but to add to the other’s ensemble. Got it? Good! We don’t need a reenactment of “Awkward Family Photos.”
Bold trends belong on Instagram, not wedding invitations!
Don’t get me wrong, I am a trend seeker. It is important to know the season’s trends and what the style is. But, you don’t want to look back in 20 years and wonder why you wore snakeskin pants in your engagement session. Wear patterns or styles that are safe and will be appropriate for years to come! Keep it timeless. Hint: Florals are great patterns to incorporate!
Finally, wear clothes that will be comfortable in your shoot!
Don’t wear stilettos or a ball gown to your engagement session just because you’re going to be a bride! Wear an outfit that will make you feel confident and naturally beautiful! Wear a flowy dress or your favorite necklace! This is your session and the more comfortable you are, the more your true emotions will show through the pictures!
